My dad’s garden has always been an endless source of inspiration - a place to feel grounded, nurtured, and completely in awe of nature’s beauty. It’s been my happy place, a space filled with colour, texture, and the joy of seeing things grow.

I’ve been lucky to spend so many days out there, helping, learning, and simply enjoying the fruits of his labour. His artistic eye, honed from a career in advertising comes through in the way he combines plants, layering colours and textures in a way that feels effortlessly beautiful. No matter where you look, there’s a perfect composition waiting to be captured.

Growing up, I was always drawn to the flowers he grew, photographing them, drawing them, completely enchanted by their details. But it wasn’t until a few years ago that my dad suggested I try scanography. One day, after helping out in the garden, I couldn’t stop thinking about the different flowers I wanted to pick and combine. I set myself up in his office, surrounded by freshly gathered blooms, leaves, and seed pods, arranging them sculpturally - upside down on a high-resolution scanner.

With every preview, I felt the thrill of discovery - the element of surprise as each composition was revealed. I’d rush back outside, picking another stem, adjusting each layer until the image felt complete. The process felt so natural, so hands-on, and I was completely hooked.

Then, when a close family friend told me she’d love one of my pieces for her wall, knowing that everything in it had been grown by my dad - the idea to pursue this as an art form was firmly planted. That’s where this journey truly began.
