Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of presenting my botanical art prints at the NZ Art Show in Wellington. It was my very first art exhibition and what an amazing way to launch to the public! I am still feeling so grateful to have been accepted and thankful for all the support I received from the show organisers, friends, family and to everyone who purchased my work.

A real highlight for me was seeing the positive reactions on peoples faces when they saw my images, the words 'ethereal' and 'calming' often came up, which is exactly what I was hoping for.

Many people were puzzled by how I'd created them, are they photos or paintings? They are photographs but I actually capture them through the photographic art of flat-bed scanography. I handpick the flowers, leaves and seedpods directly from my father's beautiful garden, and arrange them in my own playful way. The image is created upside down, I love this handson and sculptural approach, and there is a wonderful element of surprise throughout the process. I spend many hours digitally retouching to clean all the tiny stray particles of dust and pollen, delicately enhancing each image to bring it to life, keeping as true to the original as possible.
