Inspired by the first signs of spring in New Zealand, this piece captures the delicate beauty of freshly bloomed blossoms, handpicked while walking and gathering the season’s earliest floral treasures. Paired with elements from my father’s garden, these blossoms represent the renewal, lightness, and fleeting beauty of spring’s arrival.

Each flower was carefully arranged by hand, placed directly onto a high-resolution photographic scanner, and digitally captured upside down. There’s no lens between me and the flowers - just a pure interaction with nature. The process is as hands-on as it gets, layering textures and shapes in real time, allowing the soft, organic forms of each blossom to guide the composition. I then meticulously edit, retouching, colour-grading, and refining every detail while preserving the raw elegance of the original floral arrangement.
