My botanical prints are created through digital scanner photography and capture the changing seasonal blooms growing in my father’s incredible Wairarapa garden. I have always admired his gardening passion, his endless dedication and hard work. He brings years of creative talent to the clever way he plants, layering complementary colours and textures that pleasantly lead your eye around the garden. Each section is carefully composed like a beautiful painting and can change dramatically every year as dad loves to move plants around, a restless creative, always looking to improve and try new combinations. It's a constantly changing work of art that needs to be appreciated more. So this is my way of connecting to his garden - to play and create images for you to enjoy.
My process is playful and has an element of surprise, working from behind using a scanner. I love that you can never recreate the composition quite the same again. Like nature it is fleeting.
It is always beautiful, even in the winter months when the trees and earth are bare and the soil is damp with floppy hellebores filling out the space and enjoying their moment.
Each image is a limited edition of 40 - available in various sizes as prints or framed.
